At Vicksburg, Mississippi River traffic is being restricted because of weekend accidents at the old Mississippi River Bridge.
Officials Monday say no one was injured in Saturday and Sunday's accidents. They happened as vessels struggled to maneuver their barges in swift currents and high water at the U.S. Highway 80 bridge, which is located a short distance from the four-lane Interstate 20 bridge.
The Mississippi River continues to rise.
A supervisor at the Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment in Vicksburg says some southbound barge traffic is being allowed through the area but with limitations and monitoring. Northbound traffic is open.
Recent heavy rains across the central U.S. have added to the already swollen river and forced revisions of crest predictions.
