    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Start-up companies come in all sizes, shapes, and experience levels with different goals.

    There's one thing they all have in common though; the need for connections to relevant information and resources to help them start, grow and succeed in business.

    Arkansas Sourcelink provides this, and Aaron Harris and Mike Steely stopped by "THV 11 News This Morning" with more details on "elevator pitches."

    What is an elevator pitch?
    An elevator pitch is a short summary used to quickly and simply define a product, service, or organization and its value proposition. The name "elevator pitch" reflects the idea that it should be possible to deliver the summary in the time span of an elevator ride, or approximately 60 seconds.

    Competition Overview
    Entrepreneurs across Arkansas are invited to submit a 60 second elevator pitch video. Up to two employees from the winning company will receive a trip to SXSW Interactive on March 8 - 12, 2013. The all expense paid trip valued at $8,600 includes airfare, car rental, lodging, festival passes, and meal allowance.

    What is SXSW Interactive?
    SXSW Interactive is a portion of the SXSW festival hosted each year in Austin, TX that offers the unique convergence of original music, independent films, and emerging technologies. SXSW Interactive It will feature five days of compelling presentations from the brightest minds in emerging technology, scores of exciting networking events hosted by industry leaders, the SXSW Trade Show and an unbeatable lineup of special programs. Keynotes from the conference include Al Gore and Elon Musk, co-founder of PayPal and current CEO of Space X. 

    A good elevator pitch includes:
    • Who? Who are you?
    • What? What is your product or service?
    • Why? Why is your product or service unique or better than your competitors?
    • Hook - Something the listener should remember about you or your company. An interesting fact, or in this situation a meeting to discuss the juicy details.

    Who should enter?
    An Arkansas based companies that focus on innovation or emerging technologies.

    Deadline to enter is Feb. 15!

    Go to arksourcelink.com/sxsw and fill out the registration form and send in your video. If you don't have means to submit a video, on Thursday, Februrary 14 we will be assisting contestants with taping their pitches in our Little Rock office at 200 River Market Ave. Suite 400.
