KINGSTON, Okla. (SAU) - After placing fourth through two rounds of golf on the opening day of the Texoma Championship at the Chickasaw Pointe Golf Resort on Monday, the Southern Arkansas men's golf team came back on Tuesday and improved their place by a spot as they finished the championship in third-place.
As a team, the Muleriders shot 311 on the final day, which was one stroke more than their first and second round outputs, but it was good enough to give the Muleriders the third-place finish by two strokes.
Zac Harber, SAU's top golfer through the first two rounds on Monday, remained as the top golfer after the third round as he shot an 80 in the round for a three-round total of 233. Teammates Jacob Etherington and Kyle Gordon each shot a team-low 76 in the final round as Etherington tied with Harber with a 233 total, and Gordon was one shot off that pace with a total score of 234.
Individually, Etherington and Harber finished in a tie for 16th, while Gordon ended in 19th place.
The Muleriders will close out their fall slate of tournaments on Monday, October 21 and Tuesday, October 22 as they will take part in the Arkansas-Monticello Fall Classic at The Greens at North Hills in Sherwood, Ark.
