Batts recorded a double-double to propel the Providence Friars to a 65-56
victory over the Butler Bulldogs in Big East action at the Dunkin' Donuts
Batts registered 14 points and 17 rebounds and Cotton handed out six assists
for Providence (14-5, 4-2 Big East), which has won four straight. LaDontae
Henton and Tyler Harris each chipped in 12 points.
Kellen Dunham logged 17 points and Khyle Marshall tacked on 15 for Butler
(11-8, 1-6), which has lost six of its last seven.
At the end of the first half Providence led 29-26. The Friars hit 46.2 percent
from the floor in the period, while Butler connected on 36 percent.
The Friars shot at a 45.8 percent clip in the second half and knocked down
11-of-13 from the free-throw line to hold off the Bulldogs, who hit 50 percent
from the floor in the final 20 minutes.
Providence had a 37-22 advantage on the boards, but had nearly twice as many
turnovers (13) as Butler (seven).
