HOUSTON, Texas (A-State) - The Arkansas State women's bowling team won the final day of the Sam Houston State Kat Klash Invitational by recording a total pinfall of 4,175 and registering a 5-0 record Sunday in Houston, Texas.
The Red Wolves (74-22) began the day with a 778-688 win over UAB and a very close victory over Wisconsin-Whitewater by one pin, 802-801. Arkansas State continued its winning ways with victories over Texas Southern (819-748) and Louisiana Tech (967-823) before finishing the tournament with an 809-760 win over Nebraska.
A-State won all three of the one-day events that made up the tournament and finished with a total pinfall of 15,449 along with a record of 15-1.
"This was the best tournament we've had since I've been coaching here," A-State women's bowling coach Justin Kostick said. "I'm very proud of the team and I'm excited about the direction we're heading in."
Arkansas State returns to the lanes Feb. 28-March 2 at the Central Missouri Invitational in Kansas City, Mo.
