Lafayette, La. (UCA) - The Central Arkansas softball team wrapped up play in the 2014 Ragin' Cajun Invitational on Sunday afternoon, squaring off against twentieth-ranked Louisiana. The Ragin' Cajuns took down the Bears 5-0. Following the game, freshman outfielder Briana Whisenhunt was named to the All-Tournament team.

Louisiana (6-3-1) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, when designated player Sara Corbello hit a solo homerun. The Ragin' Cajuns added a run in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by centerfielder Hayley Hayden.

A two-run homer off the bat of pinch hitter Sarah Arceneaux pushed the Lousiana lead to 4-0 in the sixth inning, and a sacrifice fly from Corbello capped the scoring in the top of the seventh inning.

Central Arkansas (3-7) managed just two hits on the day, as third baseman Sam Forrest and left fielder Hannah Stirton each collected a single, but the Bears worked five walks and two hit batters from Louisiana starter Jordan Wallace. All told, the Bears stranded 10 runners on the day.

Walker (3-1) got the win for Louisiana, throwing seven innings of scoreless, two-hit ball. She issued five walks and hit two Bears while striking out eight. Ciara Clampitt (1-3) got the start for Central Arkansas, throwing five innings and allowing two runs on six hits and two walks. She struck out three Ragin' Cajuns. Kayla Gomness worked two-thirds of an inning of relief and allowed a pair of runs, while Kylee Studioso threw 1.1 innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out two.

Whisenhunt was the only Central Arkansas player to earn All-Tournament honors. In the Bears' five games this weekend, she hit .417 with three doubles, two runs batted in, and a run scored.

Central Arkansas will travel to Starkville, Mississippi on Wednesday to play Mississippi State, before playing their home opener in the Central Arkansas Invitational on Friday evening.
