SEARCY, Ark. (UAM) - The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team was defeated by the fourth-ranked Harding Lady Bisons on Saturday in the Blossoms' final road game of the 2013-14 season.
UAM (6-18, 2-16 Great American Conference) could not overcome a 10-0 run from the Lady Bisons (25-1, 17-1 GAC) in the first four minutes of the second half. That run put Harding up by 27 points after holding a 14 point lead at the halftime break.
The Blossoms stayed within seven points of the Lady Bisons in the first 12 minutes of the first half before Harding used a 12-1 run over a span of nearly four minutes to get on top by 16 points at the 3:11 mark of the opening period.
UAM finished the game shooting 43 percent from the field (19-for-44), 50 percent on three pointers (5-for-10) and 65 percent on foul shots (11-for-17). The Lady Bisons shot 49 percent from the field (35-for-72), 40 percent on three pointers (6-for-15) and 67 percent on foul shots (8-for-12).
Sophomore Jordan Goforth led UAM with 19 points. Harding's Kristen Celsor led all scorers with 21 points.
The Blossoms are back in action on Thursday (Feb. 27) at home against Southern Arkansas. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. inside Steelman Field House.
