CONWAY, Ark. (UCA) - The Central Arkansas women's tennis team returned to action on Saturday, hitting the road for a pair of matches. In the morning, the Bears defeated Alcorn State 5-0, before taking down Grambling State 6-0 in the afternoon to improve to 5-2 on the year.
Against Alcorn, the Bears won two of the three doubles matches, with the third going unfinished, and four of the six singles matches, with the remaining two going unfinished. Kristina Horsikyan and Cassidy Crawford picked up an 8-3 victory in the no. 2 doubles match, while Simona Horsikyan and Krizia Buck earned an 8-1 victory in the no. 3 match. In singles play, Cassidy Crawford won the no. 3 match 6-1, 6-0 and Simona Horsikyan scored a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in the no. 4 match. Krizia Buck picked up a 6-1, 6-0 match in the no. 5 match and Bianca Strukelj took the no. 6 match by a tally of 6-1, 6-0.
Against Grambling, the Bears picked up their second sweep of the day. Williams and Allison Murphy scored an 8-2 victory in the no. 1 doubles match, and Crawford and Kristina Horsikyan took the no. 2 match. In singles play, Simona Horsikyan took the no. 1 match 6-1, 6-0 and Kelsey Williams won the no. 2 match 6-4, 6-0. Crawford took the no. 3 match 6-0, 6-2, and Kristina Horsikyan won the no. 4 match 6-0, 6-1. Buck closed out the day by taking the no. 5 match.
Central Arkansas hits the court again next Saturday, hosting Northeastern State at 2:00 p.m.
