    ATU captures championship at NSU Golf Classic

    CATOOSA, Okla. (ATU) - Junior Megan Jeffery used a birdie on the first playoff hole to capture individual medalist honors after finishing in a three-way tie for first with a final-round 72 (+2), while junior Rebecka Surtevall shaved nine strokes off her first day score with a second-round 71 (+1) to finish tied for fourth, as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns golf team fired a final-round 300 to capture a ten stroke victory at the 15th Annual NSU Golf Classic on Tuesday.

    Taylor Kline scored 79 (+9) on the final day, joining Caroline Fredensborg's 78 (+8) to place the two in a tie for 11th place, while Laura Gallizo rounded out the Tech scores with a final-round 85 (+15) to tie for 27th in the 57-player field.

    The trio of Jeffery, Northeastern State's Baylee Price, and Southwestern Oklahoma's Ana-Laura Gomez finished five strokes ahead of Surtevall and Harding's Emily Plyler, while the Golden Suns finished 10 strokes ahead of second-place Southwestern Oklahoma, 18 strokes ahead of third-place Northeastern State, and 33 strokes ahead of fourth-place Arkansas-Fort Smith.

    Henderson State finished 46 strokes back in fifth, Harding was 56 strokes back in sixth, East Central was 65 strokes back in seventh.
    Southern Nazarene's team score of 687 placed them in eighth, Central Missouri's 698 finished ninth, while Fort Hays and Southwest Baptist rounded out team scores with a 730 and 780, respectively.

    The Golden Suns will return to action Oct. 1-2, as they travel to the University of Indianapolis for a two-day event.
