FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Univ. of Ark.) - Freshman Taylor Moore of the No. 14 University of Arkansas men's golf team was named the Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week on Wednesday by the league office in Birmingham, Ala.

"This is a well-deserved honor for Taylor," Arkansas head coach Brad McMakin said. "He has been playing great golf the entire spring season and put things together last weekend."

Moore led the Razorbacks to a fourth-place finish at the Aggie Invitational last weekend when he tied for eighth with a three-round score of two-under par. The score and finish were both career bests for the Edmond, Okla., native and his tie for eighth was the first-year player's third straight top 20 individual finish of the season. Moore was the No. 2 freshman in the 72-player field in College Station, Texas, and finished the tournament as Arkansas' top player for the first time in his collegiate career.

Moore ended the fall season with a stroke average of 74.92, but since he returned to the links after the holiday break has been tearing up the course and dropped his season average by a full stroke, shooting 72.93 for the last five tournaments. The SEC Freshman of the Week honor is the first by a Razorback men's golfer in program history, although Razorback players have earned 12 Player of the Week awards.

The SEC Freshman of the Week honor is shared by Moore and Matt NeSmith of South Carolina.

The Razorbacks return to competition next weekend when they participate in the Southeastern Conference Championship at Seaside Golf Course on St. Simons Island in Georgia.
