FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Univ of Ark)- Head coach Robert Pulliza and the University of Arkansas volleyball team have announced the schedule for the upcoming 2013 season. During the season, the Razorbacks will have 16 home matches at Barnhill Arena and play nine teams-Florida, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Northern Colorado, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Tulsa-that advanced to last year's NCAA Tournament. Arkansas' season begins Aug. 30-31 with its first of two home tournaments.
"We have put together another challenging schedule for the 2013 season," Pulliza said.
"With 11 matches against teams that played in the NCAA Tournament last year, we are putting ourselves in position to play against the best teams in the country."
The Razorbacks' non-conference schedule features three tournaments, two of which will be played at Barnhill Arena. The team opens its 2013 campaign Aug. 30-31 with the Arkansas Invitational which will also include New Mexico, Northwestern State and UMKC. Arkansas' second home tournament, the Razorback Invitational, will be held Sept. 20-21 with a field that includes Kansas State, Saint Louis and South Alabama.
The rest of the non-conference schedule includes the Golden Hurricane Classic in Tulsa, Okla., where the teams will play Northern Colorado, Texas State and host Tulsa. The Razorbacks will also play Kansas twice-once in Fayetteville and once in Lawrence-and travel to Norman on Sept. 10 for a midweek matchup.
The 2013 Southeastern Conference schedule was reduced to 18 matches from 20 with nine home and nine away dates for each team. The team's SEC slate will also feature two weekends in which it is away for one match and home for the other. Arkansas' conference season begins Sept. 27 with a road weekend at Ole Miss and Mississippi State, respectively.
The Razorbacks' first conference match in Fayetteville will be Oct. 2, a midweek meeting with Missouri at Barnhill Arena.
Arkansas' home conference schedule will feature Missouri on Oct. 2, Auburn on Oct. 6, Alabama on Oct. 11, defending SEC champion Florida on Oct. 18, Georgia on Oct. 20, Kentucky on Nov. 1, Ole Miss on Nov. 3, South Carolina on Nov. 22 and Mississippi State on Nov. 24. The Razorbacks' regular-season finale will be Nov. 27 at Missouri.

Last year, the Razorbacks posted a 22-10 overall record including a 13-7 mark in conference play. Arkansas also broke a six-year absence with an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament. For the first time in program history, the Razorbacks' home attendance figure totaled more than 15,000 fans. The single-match record was also set last year with 3,015 fans in the seats during the SEC opener against No. 13 Florida.
The postseason begins the first weekend of December with the first and second rounds of the 2013 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship. The regional round of the national tournament will take place Dec. 13-14 at the four pre-determined sites in Champaign, Ill.; Lexington, Ky.; Lincoln, Neb.; and Los Angeles, Calif.
